In a recent interview, she said,’ I wanted to challenge my existing working process, to use my control of line to draw viewers into images that insist on having to be analysed….what seems a real emotion one moment is changed in the next.’

Each of us has remembered images of faces we are being forced to question here. Jayne Wilson insists we de-code the mixed signals involved in this activity. Her exhibition celebrates the capacity of the face to go beyond the nuance of fleeting expression and commit ourselves to full scale engagement with the ambiguous dramas of the world. It is a strange and long lost art this, its revival here unusual in the Art of our time.
